Universal Geneve, "Compax", retailed by Henrique Pfeffer, Caracas. Produced in the 1930's. Fine and unusual, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with square button chronograph, registers and tachometer. C. three-body, solid, polished, overhanging, wide and wavy lugs. D. champagne with applied gold dot indexes and Arabic numerals, auxiliary dials for the seconds, the 12 hours and 30 minutes registers, outer tachometer graduation. "Baton" blued steel hands. M. 13''' gilt brass, 17 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 34 mm. The 1930's witnessed the birth of the Universal dual push-piece chronograph and the chronograph wristwatch with a 12- hour register, which brought about a veritable revolution in the field of chronographic functions. This innovation was followed in 1936 by the "Compax". In the space of only a few years, Universal developed a stunning succession of prestigious models: The "Uni-Compax", the "Dato-Compax", the "Medico-Compax" and in 1944, the year marking the Golden Anniversary of Universal's foundtion, the "Tri-Compax".
