Universal Geneve "Aero-Compax". Produced in the 1940 's. Fine, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with square button chronograph, registers, tachometer, "Memento" dial and two crowns. C. three-body, polished and brushed, concave lugs, additional crown at 9 o'clock for setting the hands of the "Memento" dial. D. black with painted gold Arabic numerals, auxiliary dials for the seconds, the 12 hours and 30 minutes registers, the "Memento" dial in 12 hours and outer tachometer graduation. "Baton" steel hands. M. 13''' gilt brass, 17 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 37 mm. The Aero-Compax was specially designed for airline pilots and patented on November 6, 1940.The fourth auxiliary dial at 12 o'clock is typical of this model. It is known as the "Memento" dial and its purpose is to indicate a time that was meant to serve as a reminder. The two hands of this extra dial can be set independently of the watch work, thanks to an additional crown at 9 o'clock. (Condition: C 4 - 6 D 25 - 04 M 4 - 5) (Grade: A)
